I’m a twenty-something girl from Chicago who had a salary job, great coworkers, and generous benefits. Yet I couldn’t stop asking the same question I’ve been asking my whole life: What do I want to do when I grow up? Desperate to figure it out, I quit my job during a time when thousands of people would’ve killed for it–or for any other job, for that matter. I moved to a shantytown outside Lima, Peru, where I’m currently volunteering for a non-profit and chronicling my somewhat ironic endeavor: moving to a new world in hopes of “finding” myself.
